The
Killdares' second album, A PLACE TO STAND, was officially
released in February 2001.
"A PLACE TO STAND" shows The Killdares' versatility, originality and ability
to utilize their unique instrumental makeup to enhance their exciting songs.
The CD was recorded in Palmer, Texas, at Palmyra Studios, engineered by the talented
Chris Bell, who also has producer and mixing credits on the album. The album
was mastered in New York by George Marino, the legendary mastering engineer at
Sterling sound.
From the highland bagpipes on the fire-driven "Fields of Fire," to the subtle
cello on "Blur," the songs on this release run the gamut of sounds and emotion.
The CD's producer, Chris Bell, has earned multiple-platinum albums and
Grammy® Award nominations through his work with Erykah Badu and Kirk Franklin,
and has worked with many other prominent rock acts such as U2, Buddy Miles, Fuel,
and Oleander. As a member of the Board of Governors for the Texas Branch of NARAS,
Bell submitted "A Place To Stand" for Grammy® consideration in 2001. Though
we did not win, we were in great company!

The
debut album that first put the band on the Alternative Celtic
music map, this album contains an equal share of vocal numbers
and rocked-up instrumentals. It offers some fabulous instrumentals
and songs, including Andy M. Stewart's "Queen of Argyll".
With great lyrics, melodies and arrangements, and some very
unique sounds - there are hints of traditional Irish, Scottish,
American (country) and even some Middle Eastern thrown in
for good measure, "Broken With A Word" makes for
a great introduction to The Killdares.
